The strongest evidence is for neuroprotection against Alzheimer toxicity, graded D — animal or mechanism only.

Humanin was found because it kept neurons alive against a wide range of familial Alzheimer genes and amyloid-beta in culture 1.

What is Humanin used for?

On the human record, nothing. It is sold for neuroprotection, metabolic health and longevity. The support is preclinical.

Humanin kept neurons alive against Alzheimer insults in culture 1, improved insulin sensitivity in rats 2, improved cognition in aged mice 3, and extended lifespan in worms 4. No human has been given it in a published study.

How is Humanin used?

Descriptively, and not as guidance: subcutaneous injection from a reconstituted vial, in small daily amounts run in short blocks. That comes from a thin body of forum reports, not from a study. No human dose exists in the literature.

The rodent work used brain-ventricle infusion, intravenous analogue infusion, or twice-weekly HNG in mice 24.

How long does Humanin take to work?

Unknown, and unmeasured. No trial has dosed a person, so no onset has been recorded against any endpoint. In mice, cognitive and metabolic changes were read after weeks of repeated dosing 34. Community reports describe nothing consistent, which is what you would expect from outcomes nobody can feel.

Has humanin ever been given to a person?

Not in a published trial. Every registered humanin study on the clinical trials register is observational 8. They measure humanin in blood or heart tissue in cardiac surgery, kidney injury or Alzheimer's cohorts.

The dosing studies are rodent 24. That is the whole answer, and it is the reason the clinical grade on this page reads animal only.

Is humanin the same as HNG?

No. HNG is S14G-humanin, an analogue engineered for potency, and it is what most of the rodent dosing work actually used 24. Native humanin and HNG are different molecules with different potency. A vial labelled humanin is not the compound that produced the mouse healthspan results.
